What it means
The Triple Alliance was the partnership of Tenochtitlan, Texcoco, and Tlacopan formed after the defeat of Azcapotzalco in 1428. Over time, Tenochtitlan became the dominant partner, but the alliance structure remained the formal basis of imperial tribute and expansion.
