What it means
The Holy Land is not a precise modern political border. It usually refers to Jerusalem and surrounding parts of the southern Levant, between the Mediterranean coast and the Jordan Valley. In Crusades history, Latin Christians used the term especially for the sacred places connected with Jesus's life, death, and resurrection, while the same region also held deep importance for Jewish and Muslim communities.
