What it means
The Barcid family was the powerful Carthaginian military family and political network associated with Hamilcar Barca, his sons Hannibal, Hasdrubal Barca, and Mago, and his son-in-law Hasdrubal the Fair. After Carthage lost the First Punic War, Barcid leadership helped rebuild Carthaginian strength in Iberia and set the conditions for the Second Punic War.
